It's tough to stay in a positive frame of mind with all that is going on these days. Yeah there's a lot of crap going down, but there is also a lot of beauty and the chance to see the good happening and to connect with those we care about. So, in that vain and to celebrate a cluster of birthdays this last weekend, including myself, my son, and a nephew, I choose this song of celebration to share this week.
Rare Earth was an anomaly in the late 1960's, an all white Motown act. In '71 this track became an instant hit and classic. It's a hard hitting example of early 70's R&B/funk rock complete with slamming drums, super funky bass, and psychedelic guitar work, and of course RE's soulful vocals and harmonies. As with all the songs on this list I dare you not to turn it out and shake it, I DOUBLE DOG DARE YOU!!

About The Curator - Danny Gordon
Danny's love affair with music started around the time he could walk. He spent countless hours in front of the record player going through his parents collection and experimented with playing violin, piano, and guitar before finding his voice on the bass in his teens.
Danny began playing in local bands in Los Angeles while studying music, eventually landing at Berklee College of Music in 1998. Following his graduation in 2001 Danny returned home and continued his career as a recording and touring bassist, most notably working with former STP singer Scott Weiland.
Danny continues to stay active in the local scene and is a devoted father teaching his children about the music he loves.
