Eleven days ago was the five year anniversary of Scott Weiland's death and I've been contemplating adding some of his solo work to the playlist for some time. Without getting into too much detail here one of my closest friends and musical compadres was Scott's creative partner, guitarist, and ran his recording studio from 1998-2014. When I came back to LA from college in '01 he hired me to work in the studio and that developed to playing bass (and sometimes other stuff) on some of Weiland's solo recordings over the next couple years. Although I hadn't spoken to Scott in many years before his passing, my time with him was a highlight in my musical career.
The first song I worked on with Scott was a cover of Depeche Mode's song "But Not Tonight" for the Not Another Teen Movie soundtrack. On this song I got to play electric and string bass, mellotron, and wurlitzer and we had a blast experimenting and making it a unique song while staying true to the original in many ways. It's not only a great song to listen to but brings back a lot of memories from that time in my life.

About The Curator - Danny Gordon
Danny's love affair with music started around the time he could walk. He spent countless hours in front of the record player going through his parents collection and experimented with playing violin, piano, and guitar before finding his voice on the bass in his teens.
Danny began playing in local bands in Los Angeles while studying music, eventually landing at Berklee College of Music in 1998. Following his graduation in 2001 Danny returned home and continued his career as a recording and touring bassist, most notably working with former STP singer Scott Weiland.
Danny continues to stay active in the local scene and is a devoted father teaching his children about the music he loves.
