In honor of my son losing his first tooth I submit this classic to the playlist. As a teenager learning to play bass and exploring heavy music, Metallica's Cliff Burton was a mythical being and major influence on me in those early years. I still play pieces of this and some of his other lines when I pick of the bass and feel a little nostalgic. Every time I hear it I feel like I'm 16 again.
A thrash bass solo in the 80s? Relatively unheard of on this scale and not many of his contemporaries could or would dare to pull something like this off. A showcase for Cliff's chops and influences in classical music mixed with his love for metal and distorted wah pedal tones, this became an instant fan favorite and classic. Every electric bassist in the universe is influenced by this piece whether they know it or not. And as always, the only way to really experience this as intended is to turn it up LOUD!

About The Curator - Danny Gordon
Danny's love affair with music started around the time he could walk. He spent countless hours in front of the record player going through his parents collection and experimented with playing violin, piano, and guitar before finding his voice on the bass in his teens.
Danny began playing in local bands in Los Angeles while studying music, eventually landing at Berklee College of Music in 1998. Following his graduation in 2001 Danny returned home and continued his career as a recording and touring bassist, most notably working with former STP singer Scott Weiland.
Danny continues to stay active in the local scene and is a devoted father teaching his children about the music he loves.
