While promoting my own artist from Alabama I came across this young guy who really impressed me. Only 17 and from Birmingham, Alabama Nick Simmons aka YBN Nahmir had built a huge fan base before he even broke one record in the music industry.
After building a big following as a gamer on Xbox Live YBN Nahmir later released his breakout single. "Rubbin Off the Paint" has gained a big buzz in the south with all of the high school age kids. On this track you can taste the bay area influence as he talks about his life and how things are for him here in the south. In interviews he credits his bay area sound to the fact that he made a lot of friends in the bay area via the internet while gaming.
The nerd gamer in me is very proud of this young man and I'm really digging his sound. I hope as you enjoy my playlist you can get into this track as much as I do. And If you want a better idea of where the southern sound is going listen to more of his music and artist like him.
