When I started this playlist I made it clear I wanted to show what the south had to offer when it came to hip hop. When most think of southern hip hop they think of dance music or club music with not much content. I've also gotten then feeling that quite a few don't feel the south have much to offer when it comes to lyrics but I beg to differ.
This next guy submitted a track to my playlist and don't get me wrong it was a great track. But when I started listening to more of his music I quickly realized he had much more to offer than the track he submitted could give you guys. So I decided to bypass the track he submitted and give you a taste of some real barbecue.
Da Deputy is from Fort Worth, Texas and on some of his tracks you can hear all the Texas influences very clear. But on this record "Peace" forget region boundaries and just listen...
The production is very aggressive with a hard hitting baseline and some grungy sounding guitars, horns, and drums. Da Deputy from start to finish tears a hole in the beat with some of the best lyrics and delivery Ive heard from a independent artist in a long time. The message in this record shows we can address some of the touchy topics of today's society here in the south and its not always about that party. I invite you to listen to this track but I wouldn't stop there this dude has a lot to offer.

Big Time – Hardage feat. Peter Gabriel

I can barely believe that I’ve let this curation go so long without more than a passing reference to the legend that is Peter Gabriel – though Genesis feature here with “Cinema Show” from “Selling England By The Pound” which has him on lead vocals…
The Suns of Afterlife – Bliss

In keeping with the “world” themes of this curation, Bliss hail from Denmark, though their collective owes as much to influences from Guinea and Sweden! They first appeared in the early 2000’s which really was the halcyon period for ambient chill stuff it seems – a golden age? …
