I don’t feel I would represent southern hip hop very well without including this record. For anyone who has been in music or even into music in the south around my age they got a chance to watch what Master P did as an independent label owner and artist. He took his music and roster from nothing to everything that any independent wanted to be in the south. He showed us that you could make money as a independent in the music industry without having to sacrifice your creativity to do so.
I remember putting this record on in my car with the volume up and riding around town. I laugh when I think about it because I have a vivid memory of a kid playing in a yard and he wasn’t visible at first glance. He heard this song playing as I drove by and he made it a point to jump up from where he was run out and start to dance. This record seems to have that effect on you once you start playing it you will work hard not to move but start to sway because it just takes you to a special place.
