The restlessness of the artist stands out in the track. Aside from the revealing lyrics, the music too--hints of folk, blues and country--render the track a sense of wander, made amply clear with the title Built to Roam."
I chanced upon this song, not too long ago, and was forced to stop what I was doing to check out Shakey Graves. Since, it has been a favourite to blast in the car while driving. The track is not very reassuring as often music about wanderings usually is. It leaves you feeling uneasy, a testament to the songwriter and composer's capabilities. The sharp tinge of disappointment is clear, laced with the meek hope of finding something better; but really clinging to the hope that some were built to roam.
If you are uncertain or reeling from disappointment, put on this track on blaring speakers.
