An intimate lyricist and distant sounds, a strangely perfect conflict of interests. This relationship is a subtle exploration of balance: to be so distant, you had to be as close, and vis versa. The lyrics have a selfish meaning behind them, saying “here’s to the things you love, hell to the rest of us.” She tells us those who love will have a tough go of it, but we can only love for as much as we have been hurt.
Hannah Reid has been on the rise for a few years now, but she’s finally now allowing the music to control her songs a little bit more instead of them being 100% lyric driven - and Hell to the Liars is an example of what friendship can do. As soon as she starts singing I get goosebumps, and her lyrics pierce straight to the soul.
