Dr. Dog has been steadily releasing music for fourteen years, and every album they come out with seems to get better and better - these guys churn out good music as if it is easy. They are one of those bands you know but can never remember the name of, until now. This is the title track off of their latest album and they make you wait through the entire thing to get to it (not like that’s a bad things). This album is chalked full of great songs, but the culmination of the whole thing is represented in one song.
Abandoned Mansion explores a possibility if a long term relationship. Sometimes we feel trapped and we don’t realize how we got to the point in which we are currently in, but then all of the sudden, as if we are reliving our lives, something happens, and that spark returns and can’t be traded for the world. However it doesn’t always last and we are left wondering again. The imagery of an abandoned mansion encapsulates this feeling: what was once a beautiful things has not been utilized in a long time. Will if be left forgotten or will it get renovated?
