Sampling different sounds and effects, James Blake does a great job capturing emotion without really providing many lyrics in this track. One of the main things I love about James is his production and knowledge of layers, basically how he can create so much ambience/noise without it sounding too busy.
This should come though as no surprise since James has been producing for a few years and has worked with Drake, Beyonce, and most recently Kendrick Lamar to name a few. His style transposes multiple genres which you really hear in this song since there’s elements of electronic through the synths and a smooth blend of hip hop/R&B style drums.
James Blake is a name to pay attention to for 2018 as I’m sure he’s poised to create/be a part of some incredible music this year.

About The Curator - Dan Rendine
Bio - Growing up in the north western part of NJ, I’ve gotten to experience a taste of different musical influences from the old school era hip hop of NY to the classic rock blue collar sound of Springsteen to the angsty suburban teen punk emo scene. This led me to pick up a pair of drumsticks and start playing which I’m lucky enough to currently do. Graduating from Bloomsburg University in 2016 I’m now residing in Philly with my band Moonroof (whom I met while in college). Music has become more than a passion and I’m beyond excited to share what influences me as a listener. If you want to keep up with myself or my band, check out our social media below!
