This track is from one of the very first artists I worked with. Olivia Rose was only 12 years old (now 19) when we met and you could just tell she was going to go places. I thought it fitting that as a new curator, my first song should come from one of my first contacts in music. She has and now she is, going back to her roots, her Hometown Sundown. From Elk Point, Alberta, Rose has been in the "big city" for a while, crafting, learning, playing and recording. This, her third release, takes her back to where she grew up. The familiar places of Main Street, Small Town, Anywhere.... The roots you know, the bonfire glow, lakeside, Saturday night. The song itself has a set of country cliches but that's country music. We are Saturday night after a long day and as much as we are in urban metropolis' everywhere, we are and long for, the small hometown we know. It's not that country doesn't come from the cities, but the songwriting is from the ranch, the farm, that small town, our hometown. Hometown Sundowns is about getting back to those roots, getting out of the city and back to what you know. There isn't one of us from the prairies that cab't relate to dancing in the headlight glow....
.... Hometown Sundowns has a video to go with it. It was a Storyhive Award winner and as such a video producer put together the video. Rose had no hand in the production or content of, but again, it's those independent artists, music or video, that make up the majority of the work that is out there. All you have to do now is find it. Olivia Rose has two other songs on Spotify and its playing in front of some of the biggest artists in Canada. She has opened for the legend Gary Fjellgaard and superstar Brett Kissel. If you want to hear music from a tough kid, in a tough business, check out my friend, Olivia Rose.

About The Curator - Jazz Matthews
I have been in the music business for just over ten years. It started simple enough. Bring my favorite artist to my hometown and enjoy the show. It was easy. I knew the artist and his management. I never thought it would grow like it has. Since that May of 2007, I have produced over 100 shows, managed two artists, produced two CDs and multiple singles, released 4 tunes to radio on our label and put my artist in front of some of the biggest names in Canadian country music. To quote one of those artists, “It Started With A Song”. It all did. Today, I continue in all those roles. Doing what I love on a daily basis is reward enough. Listening to new artists is a bonus.
