1/ So First Off - Tell Us your Name, City and Country and what you currently do for a living?
My name is Johnathan Fludd I was born and raised in Philadelphia but I currently live in San Antonio. Right now I’m just focusing on college, I’m not working at the moment.
2/ Is This Something You Always Wanted To Do? What Do You Enjoy About It?
I think it’s something that I’ve always wanted to do. I’ve always hated the music on the radio and enjoyed searching for new music. The feeling of finding a song you love that you would have never found if you weren’t digging is amazing.
3/ Tell Us About Your First Musical Memory - Why Do You Think You Remember It?
My first music memory would probably be my mother. She would always play music around the house 24-7 there was never a time when it wasn’t on. Even during sleeping hours your could hear the faint music in the living room. I would stay up all night listening instead of going to sleep. And to this day I can’t sleep if music is playing because I will listen to it until I die of exhaustion.
4/ Who Did You Make Your First Mixtape / Playlist For - What Was The Result - Did They Dig It?
At about 10 years old I would get on LimeWire and pirate music and burn them onto CDs for me and my mother. It was a bonding moment for us because she spent most of her time making playlists and I would help her burn them onto discs. So I think I got my start pretty early.
5/ What Made You Go Online And Search About Music Curation?
Not to brag or anything but I’ve always been the one to put my friends onto new music. They respect my opinion and taste and it made me feel good to gift my favorite music to my friends and have them enjoy it just as much. So I wanted to share that on a grand scale.
6/ Tell us about the name of your Playlist - where did that come from?
The name of my playlist is music to procrastinate to. I thought of the name in like 20 seconds. I guess subconsciously I just knew how to describe my tastes. I like chill music. Music you can take long drives with or relax and contemplate life, or nothing at all. Or maybe dance to at a small party with all your closet friends, or all alone. I’m a pretty laid back person so to me this is the energy I enjoy the most. I hate when I show people music and they say “this is too slow” / “where’s the bass?” / “Play something turnt, I can’t turn up to this.” This playlist isn’t for those type of people. But if you want to kick back and relax. I got you covered.
7/ What does a track have to have to make it onto your list, is there something special that you look for?
It’s all boils down to feel. If it can make me feel an emotion it’ll pretty much make the playlist. It doesn’t matter which I just have to connect to it in some way. I love adding submissions to the playlist. It doesn’t have to be indie or electronic. Genres are subjective just send me good music and it’ll make the playlist.
8/ What can an artist do in their track submission to your list to ensure that you'll listen to their track?
What does the song mean to you? What genre would you describe it as? What feeling are you trying to convey? As long as you put some thought into your submission I’ll listen to it.
9/ We know - these change all the time - but as of this week - what are your all time top 5 favorite tracks.
This is always such a hard question but I’ll try to give it as little thought as possible. When these songs come on shuffle time skips for a brief moment and I’m instantly reminded that’s life’s not so bad after all.
