1/ So First Off - Tell Us your Name, City and Country and what you currently do for a living?
My name is Henry González, I'm from Bogotá, Colombia, born and raised. I'm currently a student, rediscovering my life path. I studied music and graduated as a classical pianist, among other studies, but decided to take my life on a different path, so I'm currently studying Ayurveda, among other things, and have dedicated my life to find ways to heal and to seek wellness.
2/ Is This Something You Always Wanted To Do? What Do You Enjoy About It?
It's something I've discovered to be essential to have a good quality of life, I discovered I needed to confront many parts of myself if I wanted to live a full life and actually be happy and not just ignoring what was not pleasant. What I enjoy the most about this is how much self-discovery and growth it has brought, I have started realizing so many layers of my existence that were dormant and it's exciting.
3/ Tell Us About Your First Musical Memory - Why Do You Think You Remember It?
My first musical memory involves listening to cassette tapes and cds with my sister, also goofing around inventing songs with her, I think I remember it because it was always a way of emotional expression we didn't actually have in any other way and it was also a way to fantasize and daydream about us being famous musicians and have fun with it.
4/ Who Did You Make Your First Mixtape / Playlist For - What Was The Result - Did They Dig It?
I was never that much into playlists or mixtapes, to be honest, but the first ones I did were for myself on my Ipod. I loved them, I had a good memory for songs that had similar moods and atmospheres and enjoyed combining them.
5/ What Made You Go Online And Search About Music Curation?
My sister started telling me about it and how it might be a good job in the future and it could fit with my profile, I always loved to find songs that created moods and changed the ambient around me and the people who surrounded me and curating playlists is a great way to do it. She showed me the musicto website and I applied right away, it combined two of my biggest passions, writing and music.
6/ Tell us about the name of your Playlist - where did that come from?
Well it was very natural, it's kind of what I do everyday, so, I didn't have to put much effort into it. I'm a Night Owl and love staying up late listening to music and doing other stuff with the music on, so it was just a pretty instant fit.
7/ What does a track have to have to make it onto your list, is there something special that you look for?
It has to fit a special mood and also fit with what I associate the night with, it also has to ignite something special within me, leave an imprint.
8/ What can an artist do in their track submission to your list to ensure that you'll listen to their track?
It's not much, just follow the instructions of the form and be thoughtful, not being a mindless repetition of words, I also try to promote them on my twitter account, @musichour706 so if they have a youtube video it's gonna be there eventually.
9/ We know - these change all the time - but as of this week - what are your all time top 5 favorite tracks.
This is actually very difficult because I haven't had really stable listening habits for a long time, almost all I listen is random music (because of the musichour account), but I would say most are on the playlist. I love:
Ex:Re's "Romance"
The Depths by Interpol comes to mind, also
Daughter's "Youth"
Metronomy's "On Dancefloors"
Ize Of The World by The Strokes.
The bonus track and one of my favorite songs these days would be Daughter's Air Studios live version of "Amsterdam", it's amazing, it's on Youtube, check it out, if I wasn't a bit cautious of repeating artists on the playlist it would be there a couple of weeks ago.
10/ And finally - which Music to Curator should we interview next?
I would say Cam Bigelow from "Music To Practice Yoga"
