2/ Is This Something You Always Wanted To Do? What Do You Enjoy About It?
Yes this is something I've always wanted to do since i was a little youth. I feel I am Hip hop. It's just a part of me. It's my culture. The way I talk, dress, look etc....it's all hip hop and I consider myself Hip hop because I practiced the 4 elements of it. Which is graffiti, B-Boying(Break Dancing) Djing and Rapping. I Partially grew up in Bronx river projects with my cousins who were actually with Africa Bambatta. So as a child I witnessed all the park jams in the mid 80's. in Bronx River Projects.
3/ Tell Us About Your First Musical Memory - Why Do You Think You Remember It?
My First musical memory was when I was about 10 or 11 yrs old. I was in bronx River with my cousins Jo Jo & Tad. it was gonna be a huge block party in bronx river projects with rap legends who were just coming out at the time which were whoodini Grand Master flash & the furious 5, Kool Herc, Love Bug Starski, Run Dmc etc. I was blown away as a kid witnessing all this magic happen before my young eyes.
4/ Who Did You Make Your First Mixtape / Playlist For - What Was The Result - Did They Dig It?
Hmmm good question. Lets see my first mixtape I made was for a girl I was trying to impress. it was actually a pause tape lol where I would just dub all the hottest songs at the time and compile em all on 1 maxwell tape. She loved it and made copies of it and started passing it out to her friends. They actually encouraged me in a way to continue making mixtapes - so I did.
5/ What Made You Go Online And Search About Music Curation?
I actually stumbled upon it via twitter i believe. so i clicked on it, read it and said to myself... this is what i already do so why not make it official and become part of a curator community who's likeminded and obsessed with music like myself lol.
6/ Tell us about the name of your Playlist - where did that come from?
My Playlist called "Music to Rep New York" is basically paying homage to the true artistic sound that embodies that NYC sound. Now you may ask hey Inf...what is that NY sound? And I would reply by saying music that captures that raw NYC essence that once had the whole world waiting for any NYC artist to drop their next project. Im talking that DipSet .Dblock Gunit era with a new twist to it. With this playlist I'm def not trying to capture the golden era which was basically the 90's but with an updated twist to it. I'm basically listening for Delivery in flows, witty wordplay and dope cadences that would make the listener say Damn..this music def rep NY.
7/ What does a track have to have to make it onto your list, is there something special that you look for?
The track has to have skills, Styles & concepts. The track doesn't necessarily have to have that traditional Boom Bap sound NY is known for. But that shit gotta knock when I press play on the mp3. Clever and witty flows and deliveries is what I'm looking for.
8/ What can an artist do in their track submission to your list to ensure that you'll listen to their track?
Catchy artwork. basically listening for Delivery in flows, witty & clever wordplay along with some dope cadences that would make me say Damn..this music def rep NY.
