Hi, my name Adrian "Science" Robinson, I'm originally from Fort Pierce, Florida but now I live n Atlanta, Georgia in the USA. I work with Ms. Debra Antney (Waka Flocka's mom) from "Love & Hip Hop" on her radio station BE100 World Hit Radio and I also handle publishing for her label Mizay Music Group. I also help manage an independent label out of Alabama called BOC (Balling Outta Control)
2/ Is This Something You Always Wanted To Do? What Do You Enjoy About It?
In a sense yes this is what Ive always wanted to do but only to get to my real dream. I dream of working with a major label being an A&R developing artists, putting together projects and hit records. I feel I'm on my way for sure Its just a different process than I thought growing up.
3/ Tell Us About Your First Musical Memory - Why Do You Think You Remember It?
One of my first musical memories Is my uncle telling me about this new technology called midi that had just come out. It's funny looking back on it now.
4/ Who Did You Make Your First Mixtape / Playlist For - What Was The Result - Did They Dig It?
I made my first mixtape for a DJ back in my hometown, he loved it so much that he introduced me to a major independent label he was working for and we started a series for them that later turned into a pretty big DJ coalition.
5/ What Made You Go Online And Search About Music Curation?
I was doing research on where the music industry is going today. And the one thing that kept coming up was Music Curation. I was like man how do I get in touch with some of them. I kept searching and decided if it's so hard to find them I need to become one. I ran into Musicto during one of my searches on Twitter, I later got a chance to talk to Andrew and its been a dream since then.
6/ Tell us about the name of your Playlist - where did that come from?
"Music To Taste The South" Southern music plays such a huge part in music right now. You can almost say southern hip hop runs the charts in the current state of music. But I feel southern hip hop does not get much on the side of respect when it comes to hip hop since we are more into the beat and the swag so to say. But we have more to say than we get credit for. So "Music To Taste The South" came along. We as humans tend to relate things with food, when we visit a place one of the first things we remember is the food from that area. So my playlist gives you a taste of what the south has to offer. I love all music but I'm for sure more southern hip hop than anything. So this playlist lets me share my feelings with everyone who listens.
7/ What does a track have to have to make it onto your list, is there something special that you look for?
Yes first and foremost I look for the artist to be from the south. They can be from other areas but they have to live in the south enough that I feel the southern influence. I prefer to be able to research anything I put on my playlist so If they dont have a bio, some social media and in some cases a website I may look over it because I cant tell anyone about someone I don't know about. But the main thing is it just has to be good music. Good quality recordings mixed, mastered etc. I know its a lot but I feel anyone taking this serious would be doing all this. But again If the music is just great music I will sometimes bypass everything else lol.
8/ What can an artist do in their track submission to your list to ensure that you'll listen to their track?
Include as much information as possible bio, links, etc. Id rather not have an artist tell me how hot they are because when I research them and see streaming numbers and social media followings I will have an idea of that on my own. Just give me all the information. Where you are from, where you live, background, social media pages, every place I can find your music. Some times I end up picking a different track than the one you submit.
