Childish Gambino delivers with his new hard hitting single “This Is America” and the visuals are even more fire. The single is produced by Gambino himself alongside longtime collaborator Ludwig Goransson and features an upbeat and joyous chorus seguing into Gambino spitting about the various plights of Black Americans. Sprinkled through the song are ad-libs from 21 Savage, BlocBoy JB, Quavo, Slim Jxmmy of Rae Sremmurd, and Young Thug who had a larger footprint of the track by also appearing in the intro and outro of the song.
The video adds an additional element displaying those issues, while showing the African-American’s ability to adapt and shine through the chaos. Leading many people speculate the various meanings of different events taking place in the video. The song has a great bounce that will have everyone getting lit at the bbq’s, at any get together, and in the same breath can have the entire room discussing the greater meaning of not just the track, but can lead to the much needed conversations of racism and what can be done to combat it.
